Hello fellow book lovers! I hope everyone is enjoying the start of this new year and that 2019 is even better for you than 2018 was. I have some personal resolutions and goals I’m hoping to accomplish this year, in an effort to expand my very small world. A normal day for me is working (anywhere from eight to fourteen hours) before coming home and reading until I get a migraine or I can’t keep my eyes open (whichever comes first).
I thought this year would be a nice time to start meeting new friends in an online community with similar interests, so I’m going to start reviewing the books I read! I’m so excited to be doing this and I hope that you all feel encouraged to share your opinions of the books I’m reading. What I love most about reading is the escapism that I think most readers are looking for – why be you when books allow you to be anyone in any world? But a close second in my list of favourite things about reading is that a novel I love could be one that other’s didn’t enjoy, and vice versa. I could find a book to be mind blowing and amazing while others might have different opinions and I want to hear all of them, not just my own.
Now, before I finish off this little introductory post, I’ll share a bit of information about myself. I’m about to turn 30 years old (and I’m pretty sure I’m in the process of a midlife crisis), I have a degree in English Literature from university, and an unrelated college diploma. My two favourite reading buddies are my cats. Both are domestic short hair that I adopted from a shelter when they were just about a year old. That was five years ago and they’re always lying around with me while I read.
I’m afraid I’m not any more interesting than those few facts, so I won’t bore you with any more details about my mundane life! I hope you enjoy the reviews I’m planning on posting and, if one of them makes you interested enough to pick up the book yourself, I’d love to hear what you thought about it!
Can’t wait to get started – talk soon!
