Novel: The Silent Patient (Alex Michaelides)
Progress: 29/323 pages
I’ve barely gotten through the first few chapters because I honestly think I might be dying from a rare form of the cold. I’m usually a trooper when I get sick and I just eat my body weight in Cold and Sinus tabs (which I honestly had to purchase a new bottle of, to sustain me through this trying time) and power through for a few days and then I bounce back feeling fine. But this cold is kicking my butt. I think this must be what death feels like – not to be dramatic or anything.
I’m dying to read this freakin’ book. I specifically went out to purchase it on release day and I’m actually already hooked but I can’t find a position to read in which my nose does not become so swollen that breathing becomes impossible, which (as I’m sure you can imagine) makes things very difficult.
I will press on, though. Do not fear for me. It will be fine, I will keep reading.

Novel: The Silent Patient (Alex Michaelides)
Progress: 141/323 pages
I have an exceptionally long work day ahead of me as it’s a twelve hour shift. I’m hoping to get a bit of reading done during my lunch and dinner breaks. We shall see how that fairs. I don’t have high expectations for my progress today, but we must stay strong. My (very laughable) goal is to get this book read by Monday. I don’t think that’s going to be possible, but we’re sure as heck gonna give it a try!
Well I’m done work. I didn’t get much of a lunch or dinner break since things were very busy today, but I’m going to try to get as much reading done as I can until I pass out! Good plan.

Novel: The Silent Patient (Alex Michaelides)
Progress: Complete
I stayed up until 4:00 am this morning, finishing off this book. I couldn’t put it down! I’m so pleased with it (look out for a review soon!)

Novel: Trafficked Girl (Zoe Patterson)
Progress: 94/294
This book is so tragic. It’s breaking my heart to think about how many adults have and will continue to fail young children who need help. I’m trying to focus on the fact that it has to have gotten a little better over the past years (at least based on my teacher friends’ account of protocol they have to follow when they suspect a child is being mistreated at home) but it’s still very heart wrenching to read of a system which so desperately failed a child.

Trafficked Girl (Zoe Patterson)
Progress: Complete
I read a lot today and wound up finishing the entire book. I’ve been getting some really bad pain for the past two weeks in my jaw, though, so I’m going to take the rest of the night off and start my next book tomorrow. I think my eyes need a rest and that book kind of drained me emotionally, a little bit. It really was very heart breaking.

The Bling Ring (Nancy Jo Sales)
Progress: 28/259
God, I can already tell this is going to be a tough read. It’s not the type of book I thought it would be. I was expecting a narrative book that was a lot like the movie (which I enjoyed). I thought it would be written from the perspective of the kids involved, even if it was in third person. But it’s more like a very long news piece that the author already wrote a shorter version for print in Vanity Fair in 2010. So I’m already disappointed. But I hate DNF’ing a book, so I’m going to trudge through. Hopefully it gets more interesting. I’m aiming to have it done by Friday. I want to move on to my fluffy next book because I really need something light at this point!

The Bling Ring (Nancy Jo Sales)
Progress: 100/259
Alright, it’s just after midnight and I built a new book case (which my wonderful father got me for my birthday this year), specifically for all of my Harry Potter books (I have so many different cover variations!) and now I need to write a few blog posts and then I’m going to try to get through the vast majority of this book!
This day has gone terribly. I’ve been experiencing horrible jaw pain all day so I slept most of the day, until I had to go into work. And now I’m home (it’s almost 10:00 pm) and I really just want to crawl into bed, but I think I’ll force myself to read a few more pages. I think my goal for tonight will be to get to page 100 but it’s such a slow read. But I’m going to try.

The Bling Ring (Nancy Jo Sales)
Progress: 196/259
Going to finish this book tonight if it’s the last thing I do!
Did not finish this book. I’m certainly going to have it done before the end of tomorrow night, though, and will move on to possibly my last book of February (unless I can read super fast – which I doubt, since I’m traveling quite a distance for a doctor’s appointment mid week, and I’m sure I won’t be able to read much during the drive – even as the passenger!)

I hope everyone had a good reading week!
