This is How You Lose Her (Junot Diaz)

Rating: 1 Star

Random pieces of different lives dealing with heart break and loss. All these people from different places in the world give us small views into their often heartbreaking and tragic love lives.

This wasn’t a favourite of mine. I’ll be honest (I know I say that a lot but I’m an honest gal) this book just didn’t do it for me. It was rough around the edges and there wasn’t any actual plot, for the most part. It really was just snippets from different people’s lives and it made it impossible to connect with any of the characters in this book. If you enjoy books that are sort of chaotic with time lines and events this one might be for you. I think that’s probably the best I could do with my explanation of this book. It wasn’t that it was necessarily bad. It just wasn’t the type of book I really enjoy. I need a narrative that comes together at some point (even if that isn’t until the end) and I need to be able to connect with characters. And when books have too many characters all doing their own thing, separate from one another (cough Crazy Rich Asians cough) I just find I’m less involved in it. I can’t escape into it. Which is unfortunate.

Disclaimer: All thoughts and opinions are simply my own honest ones and I have not been asked to write this review. Not everyone may agree with my thoughts and that’s okay! I hope you enjoy reading about mine.
