No Spend 2020 (and The Exceptions)

No Spend 2020! Yes. You read that right. I spent New Year’s Eve counting the number of unread books on my TBR (because obviously I had no actual plans) and the total was staggering! Despite the fact that I’m almost always reading, I’m buying faster than that. So. I’ve promised myself I will not spend a single dime on a novel this year …

Except for the following (because hello, obviously there are going to be exceptions)

  1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – 20th Anniversary Editions (all four houses)
  2. Crescent City – Sarah J Maas (March 3, 2020)
  3. You Are Not Alone – Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen (March 3, 2020)
  4. Home Before Dark – Riley Sager (July 7, 2020)

And that is it. Period. Those are my most anticipated books this year so I’m going to allow myself to pick them up right away. But other than those, I’m going to be picking right off my TBR list. I’m hoping I can make a large dent in it this year so that I can start buying again in mid-2021.

Am I crazy? Yes. Do I need more books? Yes. Will I stick to my guns and only purchase the above mentioned books. No. Kidding – we’ll see. I’m going to try hard. I also want to read a ton of my TBR books so I can do a massive unhaul because I already have one row of books I know I want to donate. So that’s next on my list!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic 2020 and sticking to all your New Year’s resolutions. And if you’re not (like me) then get back at it! It’s okay to slip a little, just keep going!
